1. Information we collect
We collect information in three ways: information you provide directly, information collected automatically when you use the Service, and information from third parties.
a. Information you provide
- Account details: name, email address, phone number, and password when you sign up.
- Host listing details: parking spot address, photos, descriptions, availability, pricing, and access instructions.
- Booking details: vehicle information (e.g. license plate), arrival and departure times, and parking preferences.
- Payment details: payment is processed by our payment partner. We do not store full card numbers on our servers; we only receive limited metadata such as the last 4 digits, card brand, and billing country.
- Early access and support: if you sign up for early access or contact us, we collect the contact information and any messages you send us.
b. Information collected automatically
- Location data: with your permission, we collect precise device location to show nearby parking, provide directions, and confirm arrival at a booked spot. You can disable location access at any time in your device settings.
- Device and usage data: device model, operating system, app version, language, IP address, crash logs, and basic interaction events (e.g. screens viewed, taps on key buttons).
- Cookies and similar tech: on the website we use a small number of cookies and local storage entries to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences.
c. Information from third parties
We may receive information from payment processors, identity verification providers, map providers, and analytics providers that help us run and improve the Service.
2. How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Create and manage your Parkodo account.
- Show nearby parking, calculate distance and walking time, and help you reach a booked spot.
- Process bookings, payments, payouts, refunds, receipts, and related communications.
- Help hosts list their spots and earn money, and help drivers find and access spots.
- Send service messages (booking confirmations, password resets, changes to terms) and, with your permission, occasional product updates.
- Detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms and policies.
- Improve and develop new features, including by analyzing aggregated and anonymized usage data.
3. Legal bases for processing (EEA, UK, and similar regions)
If you are in a region that requires a legal basis to process your personal data, we rely on the following: performance of a contract (to provide the Service you requested), our legitimate interests (to keep the Service safe and improve it), your consent (for example, for precise location, marketing emails, and optional analytics), and compliance with legal obligations.
5. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards to comply with legal, tax, accounting, and fraud-prevention obligations. When the information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it.
6. Security
We use technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS), encryption of sensitive data at rest, access controls, and regular reviews of our security practices. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Delete your account and associated personal information.
- Object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
- Receive a copy of your data in a portable, machine-readable format.
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at parkodo.main@gmail.com. You can also manage many things directly in the app, such as updating your profile, disabling location, turning off notifications, and deleting your account.
8. App permissions
Parkodo only asks for the device permissions it needs to deliver the Service. You can change or revoke these permissions at any time in your device settings.
- Location: used to show nearby spots, calculate distance, and help you navigate to a booking. We request “while using the app” access where possible.
- Camera and photos: used so hosts can upload photos of their parking spot and so drivers can attach photos to a support request.
- Notifications: used to send booking confirmations, host alerts, and important account or safety messages.
9. Children
Parkodo is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
10. International transfers
Parkodo is operated from New Zealand and uses service providers based in other countries. When we transfer personal information outside your country, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses, where required by applicable law.
11. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app, by email, or by posting a notice on this page before the changes take effect. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page indicates when this Policy was most recently revised.
